The oil spill in the Gulf is one of the worst disasters if not the worst disaster. I am so thankful for going to the Gulf in the spring. Everyone has always told me how beautiful the water is and the sand is white as snow. The water is so beautiful. While we were there, it was windy which brought beautiful waves for the kids to ride in. Where is the public outcry on this disaster. Why can't they find a solution to this? I am sure someone has a solution but the BP officials don't want to listen. BP will most likely end up in bankruptcy. This is going to cost billions to clean up. The pictures that I see are sickening. Look at the poor birds and fish that have washed ashore. As one clean up guy has said, it looks as if the birds are being dipped in a fondue. How sad!
Today, Chrissy is working at VBS as a volunteer. She will be working with my friend, A, in the crafts. Chrissy is very excited to be a volunteer. This is the first year, she will be able to help out. The last two years, during VBS, we were on a vacation so woohoo, Chrissy.
I am an avid fan of FB which I have caught up with so many friends from my hometown. Some days, I get homesick from not seeing my friends on a regular basis. One of my friends, I have reconnected with is Annie. Annie and the KING dated before I met the KING. While we were dating, Annie was still hanging around which did not make me happy. After we made plans to get married, she married Tom a few months after us. On Valentines Day, she was beaten and left for dead with a hammer. Her head was smashed and it was touch and go for her. Her husband was the prime suspect of the attack. He was strung out on drugs and everyone told her he had to be the one who did it. She went along with everyone as they knew better. 23 years later, she has doubts. He did hard time in the NY state system. Annie and I became friends and good friends at that when Michelle was born. She had a daughter at the same time. She was married to someone else at this time. Tom and Annie are talking on FB, even I became friends with him. He seems like he is broken, his life is ruined as he can not get a decent job because of his record. Annie has relived that dreadful day in her mind every single day. She is not sure if he did, he is not sure if he did it. One thing, they do know is they love each other very much. Some people might think they are crazy. I have my own feelings and I think Annie is happy when she is with Tom. It is not for me to judge her or him. While he was in jail, Annie went and visited him numerous times, wrote letters and talked on the phone. She had moved on and married a friend of the KINGs family. They have since divorced. For now, I support her.
One thing that is going on in my life is my nephew has been arrested. Yes, arrested. I haven't talked about this to anyone as I am so saddened by the latest turn of events in my nephews life. He is a good boy with a wicked temper. From what I have gathered, is he was working at a bar as a bouncer to make extra money while going to school, and someone sucker punched him. He went off on the guy like a lit firecracker! The guy ended up in the hospital, with 12 stitches and 4 missing teeth. My nephew is going to jail for a minimum of 5 years his attorney has told him. My brother left him in jail for 5 nights before posting bail. I have had numerous conversations with my nephew and he is remorseful for what happened but has little support. His parents, my brother and wife, are letting him stay with them but are not supporting him in any way, my parents who have always thought he was the greatest will not discuss it with him. For now, I will support him in the way he needs to be supported. I have been praying for an outcome that everyone can be happy with and hoping that the guy he hurt will find it in his heart not to be revengeful towards him. Please keep all those involved in this situation in your daily prayers.
Happy Monday!
